Oak Longcase clock by Thomas Aldridge Deal 1784 (30 Hour)

An Early 30-hour Longcase clock by Thomas Aldridge of Deal, the clock probably dates from around 1760 as this maker was made a freeman of Deal in 1763. The clock has a 10” brass face with roman numerals also showing a secondary second dial and is inscribed Thos Aldridge Deal.

The clock is fitted with a 30-hour rope driven birdcage movement, striking the hour on a large bell. The movement has been cleaned and serviced and is in good working order, powered by a lead weight and pendulum typical of the period.

The case is of oak, quite plain in appearance with a flat top again typical of the period.
